I headed out of town for the 4th of July this year to visit friends in Texas. I couldn't show up without sweets. Or I guess I could have, but what fun is that? So, I made brown butter rice crispie treats out of my Flour Bakery cookbook. They were such a hit that Jennifer and I ended up making another batch before I left Texas.
I also made cookies to bring with me. I saw these cookies earlier in the week and decided to add sprinkles to my favorite vanilla sugar cookie recipe. Who doesn't love sprinkles? Except you would be amazed at how difficult it was to find red, white, and blue sprinkles in town. I ended up having to buy a small pack of red, blue, and yellow jimmies. But the pack also came with stars, so it worked out well. I think this is the first set of cookies that I've made where I've outlined everything in black prior to flooding the cookies. I really like the way they came out. I will be trying that again soon.
